Great addition versus traditional trolley.

It adds a lot more variety than I anticipated. And also I need to take my j-hooks off less frequently because I can go around them. Well worth the upgrade.

Great but not compatible with REP Athena wall-mount

I have a REP Athena wall-mount which was not compatible. Initially, Fringe said it was compatible withthe Athena, but I have the 16" crossmembers which puts the weight stack too close to the front upright. After I received the Gibbon Arms and contacted fringe with photos, we got it resolved. They were super helpful and professional. No problems with the return and refund. Truly great customer service.

These arms are great!

These gibbon arms are great! It made the Dane 2.0 so much more useful from lat pull downs to cable flys. If you are thinking about buying them just do it!

Great upgrade

Great upgrade. Took about an hour and fifteen minutes to swap over. Just be aware if you have The Drew it becomes useless. Low rows - you can still do them but the range of motion changes and will require getting adjusted to. Cable flies are amazing at home. Im 6'1" and can fully stretch into the flies now instead of just having to do dumbell flies all the time, shoulders don't like the db flies very much. I'd buy it again just skip the Drew.

Flimsy, sloppy, inconvenient, overpriced.

These are very flimsy and bent while doing pull downs. All pivots, pins, adjustments are sloppy. These are more inconvenient than beneficial compared to the standard trolleys. Considering the price, I expected much better.

Absolute Game changer

The gibbon arms is a game changer. It's what I expected and performs just
like a commercial gym version. Since im over 6 foot I now get a full
stretching my lats. Thanks!

Adds versatility

I preordered these for a 6 post REP PR-500. When they first arrived, the cables were about three feet too short. I shot an email to the seller and had a reply within an hour and new cables on the way. Customer service is fantastic with this company as far as my experience went.
The Gibbon arms aren't perfect but they add a lot of versatility to my rack.

Pros:
- I can actually do flys on a rack mounted cable system and get a good stretch even though my wingspan is wider than the posts of my rack.
- Easy to use and adjust for me.
- Not as much wobble as I feared. These are pretty secure. The only wobble comes at the adjustment points as these are mounted to the upright much tighter than my original system due to the rollers.
- Give me the ability to add new workouts I couldn't do with the stock REP pulley system.
- Seem very strong. I can easily hang on one arm at 200 pounds.
- Adjustments up/down of about 32 inches and left/right of about 40 inches is quick and easy for small tweaks mid workout.
- Cost. A lot more versatility for a pretty low price compared to what my Athena cost.

Cons:
- Might be a little heavy for smaller people.
- Don't look as clean as the original pieces on my rack, but function over form for me.
- Cables aren't as good as the ones REP provided. They have a softer rubber feel vs the harder plastic feel of my old cables.
- The pivot point for changing the vertical angle is centered with the center of the pulley at the base of the arms instead of the bottom of the pulley. This causes the cable to get tighter as you angle the arms up and looser as you angle them down. I should have left 2 more inches of cable when I cut them because now, I barely have the bolt at the end of the cable secured in the arms as I cut the cable with the arms tilted down and at the length to have half the bolt threaded.
- Occasionally, depending on the angle you are working at, the (sticky soft rubber feeling) cable with bind up in the two pulleys at the end of the arm. I have been using these for about 6 weeks, and I have only run into this a couple of times, and I have been able to compensate by moving the trolley up or down and adjusting the angle of the arm to eliminate the binding.
- The handle on the side for moving the trolley up and down feels cheap and is ugly. I am planning to cut it out and bolt in the knurled handles from my REP trolleys on it. I would have paid more for a better handle option.

Overall, I am glad I purchased these. They add a lot of versatility but are a little harder to adjust. They are solid, but not very good looking.

Gibbon Arms on REP Athena

What a wonderful addition to my home gym. Now I have a fully functional cable crossover. Installation was not difficult at all. Only problem I ran into was the cables that came with it were too short for my 30-in up front cross members. Fringe has EXCELLENT customer customer service, They immediately sent me another set of cables which fit perfectly. Very happy with my purchase. Thank you Fringe for your impeccable customer service.

Missed the Functional Trainer Boat a Bit...

Prior to receiving the Gibbon Arms I had adapted the GetRX Tornado Arms to my Dane 2.0. After some workouts with both, I think I only slightly prefer the Gibbon Arms because they are easier to move around and use, but they have some serious shortcomings for how I like to use them, which is for dual, individual handle exercises with some sort of center rack support (either via a bench or rack mounted support). The GetRX Tornado arms seem designed for this within their ecosystem with a center support, while the Gibbon Arms seem primarily designed for free standing wide fly exercises or overhead lat pulldowns. This short-sighted design philosophy really ends up limiting how the Gibbons can be used for a great many exercises. In short, they are about 2-3" inches too long, and this means the arms collide for dual handle exercises at many interior positions. So, while the marketing boasts seven horizontal positions and four vertical positions, about 1/3 of them are completely unusable when the arms are used in tandem for medium to close grip individual dual-handle exercises - that's pretty limiting. In fact, the vertical pop-pin collides with the trolley at the interior 90º horizontal angle making those angles impossible to secure and creates a mechanical pinch point for one's fingers in the design.

Unfortunately, the Gibbons don't even work perfectly for lat pulldowns or wide flys because the arms are so long that if you sit on a rack mounted seat, the arms extend behind you, and if you try using the extreme 90º wide positions for fly's on the Dane or Dane 2.0 the cable travel is too short for full ROM (unless maybe you also happen to have gibbon arms, which, at 6'3", I nearly do). A 12" cable extension alleviates this, but that has you questioning why the arms need to extend that far out when rotating them inward achieves nearly the same thing in terms of the functional angle created. In their apparent zeal to replicate a dedicated lat pulldown or the type of dual stack you'd find in a gym, it appears the designer went waaaaay overboard in a way that isn't even completely compatible with the racks it was intended to be mounted on. There really seems to be no practical reason for the arms to be as long as they are when used on the Dane 2.0 for flys, but will work better on other manufacturer's racks with a 2:1 pulley ratio and longer cable travel.

There's another questionable design choice which is in the use of 2" pulleys throughout. At the base of the arm this smaller pulley adds a lot of bend to the cable in the upper arm positions and therefore a lot of friction - so, the cable pull no longer feels smooth and increases the felt weight. One can almost excuse the use of 2" pulleys at the end for size reasons, but when pressure is applied to the system the end swivel sometimes tightens down at an odd angle and the cable really starts to drag on the side of the pulley further increasing drag and decreasing the smoothness of the cable pull. It remains to be seen how this will affect cable wear in the long run, but as I can see the cables running over the edge of the end pulleys in some positions, I can't imagine it's going to be good.

Overall, I give the Gibbons a 3.5 rating because the trolleys are easy to move and the design has managed to minimize slack/movement in the arms themselves. The install was easy (except for removing the old trolleys which is a bit of work), and Fringe gives the customer everything they need to do it (adapting the GetRX Tornado arms to the Dane 2.0 was a hassle, and not for the mechanically disinclined). For anyone adding Gibbons to their racks they do add a lot of exercise variations that were impossible before, so it's likely a worthy upgrade. If all someone wants them for is lat pull-down and flys, they won't be disappointed. However, the overall design lacks A LOT of imagination as to how they could potentially be used, and anyone who does possess this imagination will find them sadly limiting as they try to explore possibilities that come oh so close to working but not quite as the arms either collide or maybe extend too far away from the rack for use with rack-mounted center support. I believe that simply shortening the arms by 2-3" and using a 3" pulley at the base could have gone a long way toward making the arms a lot more versatile and still pull relatively smoothly within the confines of a rack mounted cable system - this would not have too significantly sacrificed their use for flys or lat pulldowns. If one also examines the vertical pop-pin positions, it also looks as though one more angle could have been squeezed in to make fine tuning the position for some dual handle exercises a bit better.

Personally, I wouldn't avoid buying them, but I'm also thinking there will, at some point, be a better option out there that results in a compromise between the too short GetRX Tornadoes, and the too long Gibbons.

Great Product Even on Non-Fringe Racks

First off let me say the arms are great and Fringe Sport's customer service is top notch (they worked with me on several aspects as I waited for the arms). You'll notice my rack is a REP PR-4000 which means I have 5/8" holes. If I knew the industry would soon be leaving us poor plebs in the review mirror I would have opted for 1" holes in my rack. The lack of a 5 star review reflects my sorrow that Fringe didn't provide an option for 5/8" holes. Everything could have stayed the same expect a different pop-pin (I mean you have to install the pop-pin yourself either way) and housing. I'm using a Fringe Mag Pin to secure them in place and it's working great at this time. I thought it would be annoying but I have no complaints and it's an easy work around for people like me.

These are a 5 star product, but the 4 stars in the review is because there is no 5/8" hole option.

The arms themselves are great. They are sturdy and super easy* to install. I've already added several routines I couldn't do on my rack before (like a cable preacher curl with the use of my leg roller). The arms don't completely line up at their longest point, but I imagine that's because there are so many moving parts and manufacture error, but this doesn't cause any real effect in function. I also love the black and red colors, matches my set up nicely.

I'm also in the basement with 90" ceilings so I had to get an 80" rack, these reach JUST under my ceiling giving me much better range of motion on several exercises (I did have to adjust my lighting).

*Because I have a REP Rack and my uprights have a matte finish they are not as smooth and are just a little thicker than a clear coat/stainless racks. I had to get my oscillating tool and a 120 grit sandpaper to shrink the rollers on the back of the arms (a total of 4). But after about 90 minutes of careful work they roll smoothly up and down. They were very tight out of the box.

Great addition

The gibbon arms have really increased the versatility of the Dane 2. I am able to perform lat pull downs much easier now. The cable travel feels even smoother on the gibbon arms. All in all this is a big improvement over the base trolleys. My lone gripe is that when in the lowest position, the cable slack makes the pulleys more prone to twisting. Another great product from Fringe.

Great Upgrade To Dane 2.0

I love the range of motion and stretch I get from the Gibbon arms. There are a few things that need to be improved with a version 2 but they aren’t huge improvements. Way better with than without them. The angles are great for many different exercises

Game Changer

The gibbon arms are a game changer for my home gym! The ability to position the arms in so many ways doesn't just allow you to do cable crossovers and better lat pulldowns, it allows you to position the cable feed width and location perfectly for any exercise. This is better than having a dedicated cable crossover and lat pulldown machine. I highly recommend it! FringeSport customer service is fantastic as well.

Thanks for reaching out—I’m happy to share my experience with the Gibbon Arms.

Installation was very straightforward and the video made the whole setup process quick and easy. I didn’t know wire cutters would be included and I was stressing I would have to run out and buy a pair.

The arms themselves aren’t overly heavy, so they’re easy to maneuver during workouts without feeling awkward or cumbersome.

One thing I really like is how easily they open up a variety of angles. That flexibility has opened up more exercise options and added a lot of variety to my training, which has been great.

Overall, I haven’t had any issues at all. The product feels very solid and well-built, and it’s been a great addition to my rack. I’d definitely recommend the Gibbon Arms to anyone looking to upgrade their setup.

The arms have been a game changer for the Dane 2.0. Not only having the ability to go much wider for flyes and other exercises, but the ability to now combine the weight stacks has really opened up the options for exercises with the rack.
The overall quality of the new trolleys and gibbon arms is top notch. Very solid. Also the ability to removed the back plate of the trolley to install/remove is so much more convenient than having to disconnect the front posts in order to slide the old trolleys off.
After having both the standard trolley and the gibbon trolley I’d recommend just ditching the standard. Make the gibbon arm the new standard on all Dane 2.0 racks. As an early adopter I appreciate the upgrade ability, but for new customers why even offer the older style? The gibbons are that much better.

Negative: Better instructions

Huge difference maker for multiple exercises

Overall, a huge difference maker for multiple exercises. Setup and cutting the cable to the correct length for my Dane 2.0 was a relative snap. The sole issue was that the rollers weren’t the smoothest initially, but that was quickly fixed by using a bit of silicone lubricant. In terms of workout
enjoyment they’ve made cable flies way more effective for me which was already expected, but the difference they made on kneeling cable crunches, reverse cable crunches, and cable lateral raises has me no longer dreading those exercises as I can get much better quality reps now. Overall this has proven to be a 10/10 upgrade so far.

Worth the wait

Got the gibbon arms on. The instructions from the manufacturer weren’t great but the installation video helps.

The gibbon arms really allow you to start a good distance away from the rack and it’s something you never really knew you were missing until you’ve tried it.

I find myself doing more cable exercises than ever before.

Although I’ve noticed that starting the gibbon arms in the lowest position and pushing upwards on the cable that I will run out of length on the cable and hit the top of the weight stack on the rack.

The solution seems to be to bring the trolley up which gives more cable length.

Overall, I am ecstatic about getting the gibbon arms and using them.

David

This is the best upgrade I’ve done for my Dane 2.0 by far. Not only am I getting better reps for cable fly exercises and lat pulldowns, this also allows me to get the best angle possible for kneeling cable crunches and reverse cable crunches.

Great Addtion to the Dane 2.0

Got in on the first wave of early orders and installed these yesterday. These gibbon arms feel really stout and assembly was straightforward. Taking the old trolleys off (you'll need to fully detach front uprights) was the biggest pain but not too bad. Really excited about having the extra height on lat pull downs as well as connecting the two for more weight. I was right at the edge of getting full extension with the normal trolleys so now I'll have plenty of room. My plan is to use leg rollers in spotter arms for leg hold downs. The pulleys seem smooth as all the others on the Dane which is good and while it's not as smooth going up and down the uprights as the original trolleys (due to extra cantilevered weight) it's easy enough moving it where you want. Just a note that you can't do all the various combinations of vertical/horizontal arm placements due to the pop pin head hitting the trolley body before clicking into place. Not that big a deal for me since this only happens if you have the arms folded all the way inward horizontally on some of the vertical settings and I bought these to get out more in front of the uprights. But if you're expecting to be able to utilize all the possible combinations just figured I'd let folks know. Fit and finish was good overall except for a small blemish on one of the pop pin heads. Not something I'd notice unless you were really looking but just figured I'd mention it.

Gibbon Arms

So far I'm really liking the Gibbon Arms. The movements are very smooth. Its definitely a game changer for various movements where I couldn't get a good stretch with the old Dane trolley. No complaints so far!

Best upgrade I've made to my rack

These turned my functional trainer into a legit crossover setup. I can hit my chest and back more effectively because the arms reach further and move freely. The units are quite light but still feel solid. Highly recommend if you want more versatility without buying another machine.

Completely changed how I use my functional trainer

I added these to my Dane and it’s a total upgrade. The extra length gives me a full stretch on flys and rows without feeling cramped. Being able to adjust the arms in multiple positions makes hitting different angles much easier. The trolleys are smooth and easy to move compared to other systems. Install was straightforward, just took a little time swapping one cable. Worth it.

Functional trainers are versatile - until you try to dial in cable angles that actually match your body or goals. Standard trolleys can sit too close to the uprights, limit arm path, and force you to compromise your optimal positioning on flys, curls or crossover work. You can also be limited on your range of motion or stretch. And for the extra strong ones out there, one stack from a single cable just won’t be enough on rows and some other movements.

The Gibbon Arms change that completely.

By extending the cable path outward and adding precise horizontal and vertical angle control, the Gibbon Arms turn your functional trainer into a true commercial-style cable crossover system. More freedom. More precision. More exercises that actually feel right.

On top of that, you can angle the arms inwards, connect the cables together and you now have both stacks of your functional trainer rack connected for your extra-heavy workouts.
