Excellent product!

Sturdy, easy to assemble, great price! Very happy with this purchase. Pretty small foot print as well. Rack is sturdy doing pull ups as well. Adding weights to the pins provide even greater stability. Height is also perfect - easily fits in my garage.

Great small footprint rack for your home gym

Bought this thing about two years ago and it has been a great addition to my home gym. I bought the spotter arms too and I bench and squat in this thing with absolute confidence. I don't do pullups on it because I have it even closer to a wall than you can normally get it. I'm not gonna go in to the dynamics of how I was able to accomplish that, but I have another station for pullups. I use it at least once a week, many times I am using 3-4 times per week.

I also have "U cups" from U4C Fitness so I can do super heavy barbell standing calf raises and it's awesome for that too. Never did I think I would be able to do standing heavy calf raises until I got these two items.

Fringe Sport has always been great for me, great customer service, fast shipping, great equipment, and just in general a great vibe by their founder PK. I have a lot of Fringe Sport stuff, always pleased with it.

Perfect Fit for My Garage Gym

I am extremely happy with this purchase. The rack is solid, well-built, and exactly what I was looking for in a home gym setup. I was initially concerned that I wouldn’t be able to use the pull-up bar with my garage door open, but the adjustable hole selection at the top made it a non-issue. I simply dropped the pull-up bar down one position and it works perfectly.

This rack allows us to do all the essentials right at home, which has been a game changer. Now my son has no reason to complain that the gym is too crowded, we’ve got everything we need in our own garage. Highly recommend this rack to anyone building a home gym and looking for quality and versatility.

Good for the money

So, for the money this is a solid rack and set of safety arms. BUT if you have owned a Rogue rack in the past, do not expect it to be the same quality. Not knocking this rack, I don't lift very heavy so it's not an issue. For the cost ($425 for the rack and arms delivered), it is less than half the price of a Rogue Monster Lite w/ arms (over $875 delivered). So the quality matches the price. The finish is nice, assembly was super easy (so easy my 9-year-old helped), and during assembly none of the finish chipped off, which is a good sign (happens way more than it should on powder-coated metal). The pull-up bar feels stable. I will say you should 100% plan on leaving two 45-pound plates on the peg as they designed, without it the rack definitely felt a little 'tipsy'. Overall, I'm happy with the purchase and am sure this rack will serve its purpose for many years to come.

Solid Rack!

I bought this mainly for the pullup bar. Eventually, I may get a barbell and weights, because the rack does need some weight on it to keep it from shifting. I am 225 lbs and when I do pullups, especially with any sort of power, there is some shifting, though it doesn't come close to anything dangerous or seem like it will tip over–it's mostly just an annoying clanging sound. I fixed this for the most part by placing a 100 lbs sand bag on the floor cross bar.

I also have the rack set up outside. I was initially worried about this, but after reading a blog post from the CEO (I think) who indicated it would hold up well, provided precautions against rust were accounted for, I decided to buy it. Eventually I will move this into our garage, but it is not finished yet.

So far, I've had it outside for several weeks and through several rain storms. It's held up well. The only rust issues I'm addressing so far have been on the bottom frame–the holes allow water inside and then there is nowhere for it to drain. This is minor, and I'll treat this so it doesn't become a problem.

Other than that, I love it and my three boys have all been inspired to work on their pullups now, which is a win.

WHY CHOOSE THE GARAGE SERIES SPB?

Here's the intel on the improvements of the premium squat rack with pullup bar.

Enhanced Uprights: The uprights are everything for a garage gym rack. Knowing this, we used heavier gauge steel for improved stability.

Single Piece Upright: One solid piece of continuous steel that an ironworker would lust after.

Shorter Uprights: We got tired of the Garage Series bumping its head. We shortened it so that it comfortably clears average garage ceiling heights. Who doesn't say "ouch" when you see a semi with the trailer roof accordioned against an overpass? Most of the competition has a really bad bruise on their forehead.

Hole Spacing: We narrowed up the spacing in the bench press zone, so the Garage Series now abides with Westside spacing (1" from hole center to hole center) dude. We also added low holes, beneath the Westside spacing for rack pulls and other options.

Hole Placement: We didn't want to cut off our tall customers. So even though we shortened the uprights, we kept high holes for the vertically gifted. If you want to use a landmine on this rack, the bottom hole is 16" from the ground.

Hole Size:5/8" holes that the natives were restless for.

Pull-up Bar: We added a pull-up bar with a super popular design. Feels as secure as the hand railing in a rollercoaster when you're about to drop. Has familiar, standard pull-up bar diameter. Features a matte black, powder coat finish that endures abuse and boasts a subtle gritty feel, making for comfy gription. Easy to do standard pull-ups or kipping pull-ups on. Weight capacity on the pull up bar is 450lb. Adjustable pull-up bar mount has highest height of 82 1/4" and lowest height of 70 1/4".

J-cups: Ain't nobody got time for the slew of inferior J-cups out there. We built ours to the same standard as our heavy duty commercial J-cups. We put a plastic UHMW coating on the front and top of the J-cups that protects both your barbell and the J-cups.

Compact Profile and Footprint: We found the sweet spot, Venn diagram intersection of small and stable. This may have involved some evil mathematical formula and three-dimensional sorcery. Please don't ask. Honestly, we used less steel on the bottom, yet still hit payday between maximizing stability and providing a lean footprint and profile.

Weight Pegs: Since we used less steel to provide that slim and trim footprint, we didn't want to shoot the Garage Series in the foot. So we added a couple of pins for added weight should you want.

2" x 3" Uprights: We went to the industry standard for 2 reasons. 2" x 3" uprights create more stability and compatibility. You can use all our accessories (spotter arms, dip stations, J cups, etc.) on the Garage Series. Yes, it's also compatible with our competitors' accessories as well.

Footprint Tabs: Although it's as sturdy as a statue coming out of the box, we added the option to bolt it into the floor or a platform underneath (plywood for example).

Easy Assembly: You can put this bad boy together in under an hour, sometimes as fast as 45 minutes. One person can do it, but we recommend 2.

Easier to Move: Doesn't seem much heavier than an old folding table you've carried.

FREE Shipping: You know you want it.

GARAGE SERIES SPB OVERVIEW

Squat Racks have become a necessity for any garage gym, and there are plenty of reasons why.

Built in Weight Pegs to Keep You Grounded

As Peter says, "You can spend more but you can NOT spend less and get a rack that is a joy to lift on today and 10 years from today." It's on record, so go ahead and hold him to it.

You know what you're going to say after a few months of lifting on this rack?

"This is my squat rack. There are many like it, but this one is MINE. My squat rack is my best friend. It is my Garage Series."

Squat Rack to Upgrade Your Home Gym?

The "end state" of the Olympic lifts is overhead or at the shoulder. Many lifters drop the weights from overhead. Since bumper plates are almost entirely rubber, being dumped from the shoulder or overhead will not damage the weights, bar, floor, bystanders, the lifter, etc...

Bumper plates are also great for garage gym use- the rubber construction is much quieter than traditional metal construction.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Can people do kipping pull-ups on the garage series squat rack?
    • We don't recommend it unless the rack has been installed.
  • What is 'westside hole spacing'?
    • It's a type of upright drilling that places holes close together in the bench press area, allowing for very granular control of bar placement. Westside hole spacing means that there is 1" from hole center to hole center.
  • Will the 3x3 weight storage pegs fit this rack?
    • Unfortunately, no, those pegs are too big for this squat rack.
  • What is the width of the pull up bar on the rack?
    • 45 inches
  • Does the 2 x 3 dip station fit this rack?
    • Yes that dip station will work on this rack!
  • Can you do kipping pull-ups on this rack without bolting it down?
    • We don't recommend doing those pull ups, unless you have bolted the rack to the floor. While you can put weight on the weight horns to hold it down, this may not be a good option for most people. We recommend bolting the rack down if you plan on doing movements like this.
